A warm welcome awaits you at our traditional stonework self catering cottages set in the unspoilt peaceful countryside of West Wales.

For Children

We love the little rascals - we have one of them ourselves, Joshua who is nearly 9 and loves making friends of all ages. We believe that it is very important for society that we give our offspring a happy childhood. Judging by our experience since we started in the holiday cottage business nine years ago, your children will have a very happy holiday at Cwmiar farm self catering holiday cottages.

We start the day at about 9 o'clock by feeding ducks, chickens, sheep and lambs; everyone is welcome to join in. Then anyone who wants to, can come to the stables to see horses, cats and dogs (we realize that some children are afraid of dogs but ours are 100% safe and very children friendly; quite often we've had a boy or girl who was afraid of dogs when they arrived, but after a few days they were stroking and even playing with them).

[Playground in the woods with mums helping children on swings and zip-line. The tree-house is just discernable within the trees]

We have a playground with swings, seesaw, zip line and sandpit, which will keep them amused for several hours each day and a large area where they can play ball games (mums and dads too). The mountain is a great place on which to play all sorts of games, and kites are great fun up there.

[Children being led on ponies during pony fun day]

We also have an arrangement with the local riding stables to hold pony fun days here; boys and girls who would like to, can learn how to brush the ponies, put on saddles and bridles and do lots of riding and gymkhana games - good fun is had by all - beginners and experienced riders alike. If anyone wants a lesson or to hack out, that can be arranged as well.

If beaches are the order of the day, then there are more than plenty within easy driving distance. There are award winning sandy beaches, beaches with pebbles and others with rocks for climbing and exploring rock pools. Instead of spending every day on the same beach you'll be able to visit a different one each day if you wish, and then return to your cottage for a relaxing evening.

[View of Cwmiar from the mountain showing miles of open countryside beyond and blue sky with fluffy white clouds]

There are plenty of other interesting things to do: castles to visit, adventure parks, a dinosaur park, butterfly farm, chocolate farm (very popular), bee farm - where you can actually see honey being made - behind glass of course, goldmines and an iron age settlement, and steam trains all nearby.

Children like to make new friends and at Cwmiar farm self catering holiday cottages they can do that very easily. Occasionally parents and children have made friends with another family and they've come here several years running to enjoy their holidays together.
